Richard III enlarged this church in the 15C. He looks down at you from the chancel arch!
The church has long associations with the Durham Militia and the Durham Light Infantry whoses standards hang here. A living church recently re-ordered, St Mary's offers beautiful stained glass, a welcoming atmosphere and one of the only indoor labyrinths in the country for you to walk through. And beyond the church you'll find a castle, a fine art museum, the wonderful Teesdale countryside and a charming market town waiting to welcome you.
